The birds really do add another dimension to this. I said before that I couldn't imagine what more you could do to this, and you added the birds, and whether you like them or not, you are right that they add balance to the work.

They give Midgar a lot of depth, so it looks like a large structure rather than a small piece of machinery on the side of a hill. My only critique of the birds would be that I don't think you need 4. It probably would have given you the same effect with 3. 4 makes it look a tad bit too grandiose. You want the focus to be on Midgar and the characters, not the birds. I think 3 would have looked a bit more charming.

However, I think the closest one is too close (distracts the viewer), but the 2nd closest one is too far to give the same depth effect to Midgar, so optimally I would say a new bird between the 1st and 2nd while keeping the other 2 would make this look perfect... Like, if you took the 1st bird and just make him a little bit smaller and place it a little higher...

I'm Sorry... I know... I'm always the asshole critic... My most humble apologize. I do it because I feel the best thing for an artist to understand is that there is always an angle to their work that they have not looked at yet.
